The point of this post is to give a short overview of things that have happened so far.
I took the Chickenmaster story as a blueprint to study writing. It went through 3 completely different versions, that had only the idea of chickengrid in common, this comes further into the comic. In 2014 I graduated art college, in 2016 I did the first Chickenmaster episode, the next 8 years were spent on experimenting with different episodes, to find the right style. That also includes a burnout.
The drawing has gone through many styles as well. In the beginning, I wanted to be like my heros, Alex Toth, Steve Ditko, but this led me to anxiety attacks. Then I took movie storyboards as an inspiration, now I can draw without pressure, because of the elimination of impossible goals. In manga, this style is more common than in the west. I draw with a dip pen, because it leaves a nice crisp line. Currently I don't put grey tones with a brush. because the water makes the paper too curly, and then I have to put them under various weights and I can't see the page, while working on the next page.
My day job is not connected to art or writing. I worked 10 years in a supermarket, to see the regular Estonian people and different characters. It's important for a writer, for an artist, not so much. Now I work part time in Estonian National Museum, so that I could have more time to do comics. Making money is a sacrifice that comes with the hobby, friends and family as well, at least for me.
The future plans with KOOMIKSCOM is to finish all of my stories, with as little compromise as possible. Putting effort into self growth, rather than money and success. The negative sides of it are, that the stories might be too confusing or the art too uneven. The location should ideally be Estonia, except in the 2. story, in which it wasn't possible to do. The 10 year plan is to finish a book in every 2 years. I already have ideas for the next 3 stories, which are not connected to the Chickenmaster book.
One of the reasons for making this blog, is to make the site more easily searchable online, but word of mouth is better, so if you like my comics, please share them with someone who you think would like them.
